Mr. Shaibu Issifu, is the second President of Oral Health Professionals Association of Ghana (OHPAG) has a 15years cumulative experience with Ghana Health Service.

Within the 15-year period with the Ghana Health service, he has worked in all aspect of our primary health care system from CHPS compound, sub-district, to District Hospital as well as a Health Training Institution. Mr. Issifu is currently the Risk Manager of Kintampo Municipal Hospital. On his educational adventure, he is currently a trainee for Master of Philosophy, Public Health (Disease Control and Epidemiology) – Catholic University of Ghana.

He has Bachelor of Public Health (Nutrition) – University of Health and allied Sciences, Diploma in Dental Surgery Technician from College of Health and Well-being – Kintampo, as well as Certificate in Community Health Nursing from Esiama Nursing and Midwifery Training School. Shaibu has pursued several short courses in reputable international institutions including Management and Leadership in Global Health from Washington University, Introduction to Dental Medicine from University of Pennsylvania, Essential Epidemiologic tools for Public Health Practice from John Hopkins University, Introduction to statistics & data analysis in Public Health from Imperial College, London, and Media and conflict resolution from Essec Business School among others.

He was part of the panel that developed the Dental Therapy curriculum in 2017 for College of Health and Well-being-Kintampo. Shaibu is the immediate past Secretary, and current Chairperson of Oral Health Profession Specific Committee of Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC). In student politics, Shaibu was both General Secretary and President of Oral Health Students Association of Ghana, Chairperson of internal audit committee of SRC, and also the majority leader of the student parliament in 2016/2017 academic year.

 

Mr. Douglas Avoka

Mr. Douglas Avoka is the first and Former President of OHPAG. It was a vision he conceived to have middle level Oral Health Professionals put together under one umbrella where their dreams and aspirations could be championed that eventually gave birth to OHPAG in 2015. He was unanimously elected to lead the association though he didn’t contest any position but he declined. However, after a lot of persuasions from peers and close associates, he picked up the challenge and led the association as interim President. Today under his leadership and supported by his executives, OHPAG is successfully registered and have middle level professionals namely: Dental Clinic Assistants, Dental Surgery Technicians, Dental Laboratory Technicians, Dental Laboratory Technologist, Dental Radiologist, COHO’s and Dental Therapist duly incorporated into the association.

He led the Association to hold its first zonal meetings in Accra, Cape Coast, Tamale and Kumasi in 2018, and the first ever national congress in 2019 at Korle-Bu Accra.

He has successfully overseen the election of regional executives in the former 10 regions of Ghana.

OHPAG through his leadership Joined in the celebration of World Oral health Day in 2019 that led a new passion to broaden the scope of the celebrations beyond Accra.

Born on 17th March, 1987, and a former Student of Zebilla Senior High/Technical School, Mr. Douglas Avoka currently works at Bawku Presbyterian Hospital as a Dental Surgery Technician. He has held several positions including; Vice President of Ghana Nurses and Midwives Association (GNMTA), Assistant to the National Chairperson of Community Health Nurses Group-Ghana and the President of Oral Health Students Association of Ghana.

He currently holds position as the Divisional Youth coordinator of Deeper Life Bible Church, Bawku Division where he is influencing hundreds of young lives.
